Everyday Parkinson’s – Theme Songs

I got officially diagnosed last year at the age of 58. Man, has it been a whirlwind. The tremors. The depression. The nightmares. The inability to get a full nights sleep. The pills 3 times a day. The life changes. New diet. Freaking exercise. The fear of the future. All of those things and more as I am sure

I am at a place today, thanks to a great therapist and my amazing wife, and anti depressants, that I can laugh and start to find some peace and even some humor in my diagnosis.

I mean what are my options? I can sit around and wallow (or Waller, if you are in the south) in my thoughts and fears or I can continue to live, love, and laugh until I am unable to. And honestly, I don’t think those things will ever go away no matter how things progress with this disease.

So, I have been thinking about theme songs (I know, Right. Freaking, theme songs? Who in their right mind thinks about theme songs at the age of 58.) My old theme song was “Play the Funky Music White Boy” by the Ohio Payers. But this song does not seem fitting anymore. Still love my funk music, don’t get me wrong. But, I needed a new Theme song and I have found it.

I thought you guys would appreciate it. I hope you do and are not offended, but here it is.

I’m Shakin’ by Jack White. The original is by Little Willie John but this is the Jack White song.

If you had a Parkinsons theme song, what would it be? Please share yours with me. I would love to see it.

BTW, I am working on a dance for me and my wife to this song. If I get brave enough, I will post it when it is done

We had to pick a theme song for our last BBQ comp. Sure, we could go with we will rock you, eye of the tiger or our namesake, Small Axe, but I’ve always wanted to “come on down” so we went with the theme to the price is right! Gotta be able to laugh at yourself. Glad you’re not taking this laying down, I’ll get up and shake with you anytime!
